Guardian Landlord can send you a text message when a tenant submits a new maintenance request. This is useful for self-managing landlords who want to stay on top of their properties without constantly checking the app. Guardian Landlord is built for independent landlords — learn more about how it works. This guide walks you through opting in to SMS notifications from your account settings.
Step 1 — Add your phone number
Before you can opt in to SMS, your account needs a phone number on file.
Go to Settings in the sidebar.
Scroll to the Contact Info section.
Enter your US mobile number and tap Save Changes.
Step 2 — Enable SMS in Notification Preferences
Once your phone number is saved, scroll down to Notification Preferences and find the SMS section at the bottom.
Scroll past the email and push notification toggles to the SMS (Text Message) section.
Toggle on Text on new requests to receive a text message each time a tenant submits a maintenance request.
Tap Save Preferences to confirm your opt-in.
Example — Settings screen
The SMS toggle (highlighted) appears after a phone number has been added to your account.
What to expect after opting in
Once enabled, you will receive a text message to your registered phone number each time a tenant submits a new maintenance request. The message includes the property name, unit (if applicable), and a brief description of the issue.
Consent and message frequency
By enabling SMS notifications you are providing express written consent to receive text messages from Guardian Landlord at the mobile number you provide. Message frequency varies based on tenant activity at your properties. Standard message and data rates may apply.
Guardian Landlord will never share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes. Your number is used solely to deliver maintenance notifications related to your properties.
